Chuma Memela

Beyond his entrepreneurial endeavours, Chuma also wears his economist hat as a seasoned research consultant work as part of a team specializing in economic development. In this role, he contributes to shaping government economic policies for state organs such as the Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs, and Tourism and the Eastern Cape Development Corporation.

Chuma's academic journey is equally impressive. He holds an undergraduate degree in Commerce with majors in Economics and Information Systems, graduating cum laude with 23 distinctions during his studies. Chuma was also the top performer in his honours year, where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Information Systems. Added to that, his first-ever conference paper from his honours work was published in the IST Africa international journal. His educational pursuits continued with a Business & Information Technology Programme at the University of Free State Business School in partnership with EBL Institute. His excellence was recognized with several awards including an 89% finish, 1st Place Top Achiever in the Eastern Cape, 3rd Place out of 500 students nationally, and a Dedication Award. Currently, he is advancing his expertise by pursuing a Master of Commerce in Information Systems.

Chuma’s reputation as a thought leader in artificial intelligence has made him a sought-after speaker, and he has collaborated with prominent brands such as JCI Durban, JCI Nigeria, EBL Institute, BCM and Local Economic Development, National Youth ICT Council, Keith Ngesi Radio (KNR Radio), Mdantsane FM, and Tru FM to share his insights and visions on AI and its future impact.
